The studio

Most photographers do one thing. After thirty-five years, Studio JK does four — and keeps them separate on purpose, because a wedding client, a marketing director, a family, and an event planner are looking for different things and deserve a site that speaks to each of them directly.

What doesn't change across the four is the work: two photographers who read a room, wait for the honest moment, and deliver an editorial portrait rather than a snapshot. This page is the front door. Choose the practice that fits, and it will take you to its own home.

Thirty-five years of photographing people.

Joe's first paid work was $5 black-and-white darkroom prints on his father's Nikon F3, freshman year at William & Mary. That camera is retired now, but it shaped how the studio still sees light — and, more importantly, how it reads people. Joyce is the studio's lead photographer and primary editor; her eye shapes every final image. Together they have shot, edited and delivered for 23 years across weddings, galas, fashion, and private events.
